Due to temperature differences during shipping, condensation can occur in the petri dishes. If this happens, you can place the Petri dishes upside down for a day, and the water can then be drawn back into the agar mixture. This assumes that it is warmer at the "floor", moisture rises. If not all is drawn back into the agar mixture, then it is possible to pour the water out of the Petri dish.

Why and how are water agar petri dishes used?

Water agar petri dishes are an excellent tool for cleaning cultures from bacteria.
They are agar petri dishes without nutrients. The bacteria need sugar and nutrition to multiply/spread. The mycelium is an organism that draws nourishment from the small transferred piece of agar.

Most often it requires more than one transfer with water agar.

For example
First transfer from contaminated petri dish with MEA to water agar -> MEA -> water agar -> MEA -> water agar -> MEA. Etc until you see a completely pure culture on the MEA petri dish.
